Dana Tormollan
Write-In Candidate for Toms River Township Council Seat At-Large
Mission Statement
My name is Dana Tormollan, and I am running for a Toms River Township Council At-Large Seat as a Write In Candidate this November 7th.I have been a Toms River Resident for approximately 47 years. I spent the early part of my life as a resident of the Barrier Island section of Toms River, and moved to Downtown Toms River in 1979, where I still reside.I am a Graduate of Toms River High School South, and I was a member of the Class of 1991...the 100th Graduating Class.I attended Ocean County College for 3 Semesters and after my third Semester I decided to go to work as a Bank Teller as well as a waitress for many years.I am the mother of two young men. One is a Graduate of Toms River High School South, and is currently serving in the United States Army, and the other is a Senior at High School South, and looking to attend college next year.Over the past few years, I have become involved in many groups and activities around Toms River.I served as a Board Member and eventually the Vice President of Toms River Wrestling Club for close to ten years. I also served as a Board member for Toms River Lacrosse Club for several years.I am a Member of the Toms River Education Foundation, a non-profit group whose Only goal is to raise funds for our School District to help offset the costs of Extra Curricular Activities, due to budget cuts from the State of New Jersey.I serve on the Toms River Zoning Board of Adjustments. I have been a member for almost two years now.On Fridays for the past 3 years, I have been helping the POP THE TRUNK GANG and FULFILL feed those in need at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.I have been attending Toms River Township Council meetings regularly for the past four years, as well as Planning Board and Zoning Board, prior to my appointment.I have attended Every meeting regarding the Downtown Redevelopment Plan since 2021, and I believe that the active neighbors and residents were the key part in the restructuring of the project.I am a Republican by Party, and serve as an Ocean County Committee Member, however with the state of the World right now, I believe it is more about The Person, and not necessarily The Party. That being said, I believe I can be That Person!! I am a Huge supporter of Our First Responders...Police, Fire, EMS and Dispatchers, and believe that they need our support and consideration when it comes to providing them with a proper budget so they can continue to provide the residents of Toms River to the best of their abilities, both on the Mainland and The Barrier Island.I decided to throw my name into this upcoming election because I truly believe that Not Being A Politician will be my greatest asset.I have many concerns about the state of our Town, and a fear that if our Town should fall into the wrong hands, we will all face troubles down the road. The division of the residents is a large concern of mine. Whether it be by location within the Township, such as the Barrier Island vs Mainland issues, or Downtown vs North Dover concerns, Nobody’s concerns are any less relevant than the other and all deserve the same consideration from those in charge.Which brings me to the fear mongering issues that continue to plague our mailboxes during every election cycle. When those fliers begin to pile up, thousands of dollars spent...on nothing but name calling and finger pointing, there lies the problem. They Never state what the candidates want to do to make things better for the Township or its Residents, they just try to scare you into believing why you Shouldn’t Vote for someone else. I am not that person. I will not stoop to such a level, Ever. Instead I would like to tell you the things that I would like to see changed, or how I hope to help build up the pride of Toms River by being involved with the residents and their needs and concerns.I would like to see empty buildings along Route 37 and Route 9 become the homes of New Small Businesses. I would like the Senior population to know that we are looking out for them, and that their needs within their small communities are just as important as the residents who live outside of those same communities. I would like to see the development of land used for more public space or saved from development and preserved as Green Space. I would like to see BASF be held accountable for their part in the destruction of the property known as Ciba Geigy. I would like to see the Downtown area thrive, and I will continue to be a part of the Redevelopment situation, and work with the residents to keep things in check as we see fit.I would like the Barrier Island residents to not only attend meetings within their HOA regularly, but also Township Council, Planning and Zoning Board to stay up to date before things become heated, and so that those sitting on the dais are kept aware of their concerns.I would also like to see this Town saved from those who are only using it as a Power Grab.We are not in a good spot as far as our Council Candidates are concerned. Absentee Candidates become Absentee Members. This Town Deserves Someone Who will step up and hear their thoughts, concerns and complaints, and that person needs to listen to them and work
with them to the best of their ability. Again, I Am Not A Politician...but I am involved and concerned for the greater good of the Town in which I call HOME.So when you enter the polls on November 7th, please WRITE IN...DANA TORMOLLAN for Council. I promise to be the person within the politicians...not the “Yes Man” for the politicians. Thats Dana T-O-R-M-O-L-L-A-N Thank you~
